A Father Killed by His Son in Kano
A 25-year-old man, Alkasim Ya’u, has been arrested by the NSCDC in Kano State for stabbing his father to death at his uncle’s house in Tudun Yola ‘C’, Gwale Local Government Area. The NSCDC Corps Commandant, Mohammed Falala, confirmed this to NAN on Sunday.
He said the tragic incident happened on Friday around 1:30 pm, when the father, Alhaji Ya’u Mohammed, brought his son, who was mentally ill, to Psychiatric Hospital Dawanau for treatment. They had an appointment with a doctor on Saturday, Jan. 6, but the father decided to stay overnight at his brother’s place instead of going back to Katsina.
Falala said that their investigation showed that the son’s mental illness was caused by his involvement in hard drugs. He said that the son attacked his father with a sharp object at Tudun Yola and inflicted fatal wounds on him. The NSCDC operatives in the area intervened and rushed the father to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. They also arrested the son and seized the weapon.
He said that the family was preparing to take the body of the deceased to Katsina for burial, while the son and the evidence were handed over to the police at Rijiyar Zaki for further investigation. (NAN)
