Security Operatives Rescue Seven Kidnapped Students Of Federal University Of Lafia In Nasarawa

Nigerian security operatives rescued seven students of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, from the terrorists’ hideout on Sunday evening.

A source in the school confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Monday morning, saying that the school management had received the students and taken them to the school clinic for proper treatment.

The rescued students were four males and three females, all undergraduates of the university.

A video captured by Campus Core showed that the students looked physically and mentally exhausted as they arrived at the school clinic.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that terrorists had stormed a private hostel called Confidence Lodge in Gandu community and abducted some students last Wednesday.

The incident, along with several previous terrorist attacks on the students’ community, sparked a massive protest by the students who blocked the major roads leading to the university last Thursday.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the students displayed placards and chanted: “We no go gree ooo, we no go gree ooo.”

A source among the students told SaharaReporters exclusively that the Nigeria Police Force, which had failed to protect them from the terrorists, attacked them during the protest.

“The police that could not defend us against the terrorists were the ones stopping us from the protest. They attacked us during the protest,” the student said.

However, SaharaReporters could not verify if all the kidnapped students had been freed.

The number of abducted students was still unknown at the time of filing this report.

When SaharaReporters contacted the spokesperson for the state police command, Ramhan Nansel, he said he was not aware of the kidnapping and could not comment on the rescue, despite the fact that police personnel had dispersed a students’ protest demanding the release of their abducted colleagues last week.
