How Love Inspired Me to Convert to Islam – Mercy Aigbe
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe has opened up about her decision to convert from Christianity to Islam.
She said that her love for her husband, Kazim Adeoti, was the main reason behind her choice.
She added that she was not coerced into changing her religion, but rather did it willingly and happily.
In an exclusive interview with TVC’s breakfast show ‘Your View’, the actress was quizzed about her love life. She replied with a smile, “I love my husband.”
She went on to share her feelings, saying:
“I love my husband so much. I don’t think any woman would have endured what I endured if it was not for love. I mean, I have everything I need: comfort, fame, children. So it’s love that motivated me.”
She also explained why she switched from Christianity to Islam, saying:
“It’s because of love that I did what I did. I remarried. I’m a romantic, very emotional. I love love.”
She said that she made the decision on her own, without any pressure from anyone.
“I’m a 45-year-old woman, responsible for my actions and decisions.”
She said that she was very open-minded when it came to religion.
“I love my husband very much. He’s very religious. He prays, and he’s someone I respect and admire a lot. So I felt drawn to his faith.”
She said that after COVID, she had some issues with her church, so she decided to follow her husband’s religion, which brought them closer.
“I’m excited to learn about his religion, how to pray, and everything.”
