How to Share Data on MTN with Your Friends and Family
Do you have an MTN SIM card and want to share your data with other MTN users? If yes, then you should know that MTN has a service called MTN Data Share that allows you to do just that. With MTN Data Share, you can transfer data from your own data balance to another MTN number. You can also buy data for someone else or request data from someone who has MTN Data Share activated. How to Activate MTN Data Share
Before you can share data on MTN, you need to activate the MTN Data Share service on your line. This service enables you to allocate a portion of your data bundle to be shared with other MTN numbers. To activate MTN Data Share, follow these steps:
Dial *321# on your phone.
Select option 1 to register for MTN Data Share.
Enter the beneficiary’s MTN number you wish to share data with.
Confirm the registration.
You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully registered for MTN Data Share. You can now start adding beneficiaries to your sharing list.
How to Add Beneficiaries to Your MTN Data Share List
After activating the MTN Data Share service, you need to add beneficiaries to your sharing list. These are the MTN numbers that you can share data with or buy data for. You can add up to five beneficiaries to your list. To add beneficiaries, follow these steps:
Dial *321# on your phone.
Select option 2 to add beneficiaries.
Enter the MTN number you want to add as a beneficiary.
Confirm the addition of the beneficiary.
You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully added the beneficiary to your list. You can repeat these steps for each beneficiary you want to add.
How to Transfer Data from Your Balance to a Beneficiary
Once you have beneficiaries added to your list, you can easily transfer data from your balance to their numbers. You can transfer up to 2GB of data per day. To transfer data, follow these steps:
Dial *321# on your phone.
Select option 3 to transfer data from your balance.
Choose the beneficiary you want to transfer data to.
Enter the amount of data you want to transfer in MB.
Confirm the transfer of data.
You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully transferred data from your balance to the beneficiary. The beneficiary will also receive a notification message that they have received data from you.
How to Buy Data for a Beneficiary
If you don’t have enough data on your balance or you want to surprise someone with a gift of data, you can buy data for a beneficiary using your airtime. You can buy any of the available data plans for the beneficiary. To buy data for a beneficiary, follow these steps:
Dial *321# on your phone.
Select option 4 to buy data for a beneficiary.
Choose the beneficiary you want to buy data for.
Select the data plan you want to buy for the beneficiary.
Confirm the purchase of data.
You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully bought data for the beneficiary using your airtime. The beneficiary will also receive a notification message that they have received data from you.
How to Request Data from a Beneficiary
If you are running low on data and need some help from someone who has MTN Data Share activated, you can request data from them using a free SMS. The beneficiary can then decide whether or not to share some of their data with you. To request data from a beneficiary, follow these steps:
Dial *321# on your phone.
Select option 5 to request data from a beneficiary.
Choose the beneficiary you want to request data from.
Confirm the request of data.
You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully requested data from the beneficiary. The beneficiary will also receive an SMS asking them if they want to share some of their data with you. They can reply with YES or NO.
