Code to Get Your MTN Number on Your Phone
Do you have an MTN SIM card but you don’t remember your phone number? Don’t worry, you are not alone. Many people forget their phone numbers because they don’t use them often or they have multiple SIM cards. Fortunately, there are easy ways to check your MTN number on your phone without spending any airtime or data. In this post, I will show you four methods to get your MTN number on your phone using USSD codes, SMS, customer care, and call me back.
Method 1: Using USSD Codes
USSD codes are short codes that you can dial on your phone to access various services and information from MTN. There are two USSD codes that you can use to check your MTN number on your phone:
Dial *123# on your phone and press the call button. A menu will appear on your screen. Select option 1 (Account Information) and then option 1 (My Number). Your MTN number will be displayed on your screen and also sent to you as an SMS.
Dial *663# on your phone and press the call button. Your MTN number will be displayed on your screen immediately.
These USSD codes are free and work on any phone that has an MTN SIM card.
Method 2: Using SMS
SMS is another way to check your MTN number on your phone. You can send a text message to a special number and receive a reply with your MTN number. Here’s how to do it:
Send a blank SMS to 50123 from your MTN SIM card. You will receive a reply with your MTN number in the format “Your Number is: 23480xxxxxxxx”.
Alternatively, you can send “MyNumber” to 50123 from your MTN SIM card. You will receive the same reply as above.
This SMS service is free and works on any phone that can send and receive SMS.
Method 3: Calling Customer Care
If you don’t have access to USSD codes or SMS, you can still check your MTN number by calling customer care. Here’s how to do it:
Dial 180 from your MTN SIM card and wait for the call to connect. You will hear a voice prompt that will guide you through various options.
Press 9 to speak to a customer care representative. Tell them that you want to know your MTN number and they will tell you after verifying some details.
Alternatively, you can dial 08031000180 from any other network and follow the same steps as above.
This method may take some time and may incur some charges depending on the network you are calling from.
Method 4: Using Call Me Back
Call me back is a feature that allows you to send a free SMS to another MTN user requesting them to call you back. You can use this feature to check your MTN number by sending a call me back SMS to someone who can tell you your number. Here’s how to do it:
Dial *133# on your phone and press the call button. A menu will appear on your screen with various call me back options.
Select the option that suits your situation, such as “Please Call Me”, “Please Call Me, I Love You”, “Please Call Me, I Need Your Assistance”, etc.
Enter the phone number of the person you want to send the call me back SMS to and press send.
The person will receive an SMS with your name and MTN number asking them to call you back.
Ask the person to tell you your MTN number when they call you back or send you an SMS.
This method is free and works on any phone that has an MTN SIM card.
