WhatsApp, a popular messaging app, has announced that it will stop working on some phones from October 24th. This means that millions of users will not be able to access the app unless they upgrade their devices or switch to a different platform.
According to WhatsApp, only Android phones running on version 5.1 or higher and iPhones running on iOS 12 or higher will be able to use the app after October 24th. The company said: “From October 24th, only Android phones with version 5.1 and above will continue to use the app. Your phone must receive a text message or call to verify. Before banning the phones, we will send warning messages on the WhatsApp app.”
What phones are predicted to stop Whatsapp?
WhatsApp did not specify which models of phones will be affected by the change, but some reports suggest that LG, Sony, HTC and Motorola phones are among those that will lose access to the app. For iPhone users, they will need to update their software from iOS 11 to iOS 12 or higher if they want to keep using WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is one of the most widely used apps in the world, with more than two billion users. It allows people to send messages, make voice and video calls, share photos and videos, and use various features such as stickers, emojis and status updates. The app is owned by Facebook, which also owns Instagram and Messenger.
