Takutaha Day is a festival that commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on the 19th of Rabi al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. On this day, the Kano government grants a holiday to all state employees to honor this occasion.
The Muslim community in Kano and its neighboring towns and cities expresses its joy and gratitude in various ways. Some people climb Mount Dala, a historic site that overlooks the city. Others participate in processions, prayers, and charitable activities.
