Kano State Government Weds 1,800 Widows and Girls
The Kano state government has successfully wedded about 1,800 widows and girls in a mass ceremony that took months of preparation.
The ceremony was different from the previous ones as it was held across all the 44 local governments of the state.
The City and Surroundings Local Government witnessed more than 300 marriages that were solemnized in the central mosque of Kano City after the Friday prayer.
Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, acted as the best man for all the brides, while Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano, paid 50,000 Naira as dowry for each bride.
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso expressed his gratitude to God for making this day possible and said it was a very important occasion for them as many people had embraced the program of empowerment.
