Nigeria’s cement industry is about to witness a major shakeup as BUA Cement, one of the leading cement producers in the country, has announced its plan to slash the price of cement by 36%.
The company’s CEO, Abdussamad Isyaka Rabiu, revealed this after meeting with President Tinubu on Wednesday. He said that the company will open a new cement factory in Edo State in the New Year, which will have a production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum. This will increase the supply of cement in the country and create more jobs for Nigerians.
Rabiu also stated that the company is committed to supporting the government’s efforts to develop the infrastructure sector. He expressed optimism that the cement industry will overcome the challenges of high energy costs, low quality standards, and import restrictions, and meet the growing demand for cement in the construction sector.
