Professor A.M Bunza, a lecturer at the Usmanu Danfodio University in Sokoto, said Dankwairo was born in 1907 in the town of Bakura, about 105 kilometers from Zamfara State.


His father's name is Usman Dankwanda, he lives in Kaya town of Maradun Local Government Area, where he sings for the Emir of Maradun at his palace.

Dankwairo has since become famous in the field of music, which led him to become a singer for the late Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, where Dankwairo sang his first song with the title 'Mai Dubun Nasara Garnaki Sardauna'.


The late Sardauna preferred the Dankwairo band over any other band, making Dankwairo the singer of his palace with an extraordinary quality which at that time did not go unnoticed by the kind of gifts that Sardauna used to give to Dankwairo and his team, like a suit. to the car.


In short, Musa Dankwairo composed 17 poems for Sardauna, and the reason for his meeting with Sardauna was in the political arena of the NPC (Northern People's Congress), Sardauna was a politician and a king, so he needed a royal singer to live with. him in his palace for his name's sake.


After Sardauna's death in 1966, the Dankwairo team rested for a long time before continuing to sing hymns to other famous traditional rulers such as; Emir of Daura Bashar, Sultan of Sokoto and Emir of Zazzau Aminu.
